Caribbean Fashionweek (CFW) came and went and the designs that graced the runway were phenomenal. Quite a number of designers had a great showing with fashionable pieces while others were dreadfully short on style, finish and wearability. For Outlook, just a handful of designers gave us a reason to pause.

Night 1

Drenna Luna by designer Arlene Martin drew inspiration from Jamaica's indigenous wildlife to capture the colour and beauty of the island's flora and fauna. Her choice of fabric (stretch) was selected deliberately to accentuate the curves and flatter the physique.

The final heavyweight fashion challenge for the 'Mission Catwalk' contestants was brought to the CFW runway. The Guyana-born Ryan Chan had a very cohesive and wearable collection. Many of his designs were bold with prints and earthy colours with a few neutrals incorporated to offset the boldness of his designs.
Jamaica-born Gregory 'HOD' Williams utilised mostly black, gold and white in his collection. Known for his bold and edgy appeal, HOD was a hit with many in the audience.

Night 2

High Tide by Cedella Marley: After her recent debut in collaboration with PUMA for Jamaica's 2012 Summer Olympic gear, Cedella Marley stirred excitement. Her new swimwear collection, High Tide, incorporated bright colours with fun, flirty fabrics reminiscent of Jamaica's beaches. Her more high-end pieces, though, were inspired by Jamaica 50 and were elegant, simple and glamorous.
Jae Jolly by Janel Jolly: Despite being eliminated from 'Mission Catwalk' season two recently, this young designer continues to make headway in the fashion industry with her flattering choice of fabrics. Bold and fresh, she commands attention with her catalogue of uniquely made pieces.

Night 3

Attitude by Ashley Martin: Her collection created a mixture of elegance, glamour, sophistication and sexiness. Each piece that was presented had some element of glam to create a statement worthy of any red-carpet event. Known to make patrons salivate with her edgy designs, Ashley Martin once again presented a notable showcase.
Julan by Juliette Dyke: With its usual flair, Julan by Juliette Dyke blended architecture with structure to create impeccable structured looks to kick-start the closing night's collections. Dyke skilfully combined fabrics of various textures and hues to create a collection that was representative of the Caribbean culture.
